Creekside Community Garden Society
Creekside Community Garden began as a vision to grow more than just food—it was about cultivating community. In alignment with the City of Vancouver and Vancouver Park Board’s goals to increase food assets through the Greenest City 2020 Action Plan, a proposal was put forward by The World in a Garden for a new temporary garden beside the Creekside Community Recreation Centre.
That vision took root on June 14, 2014, when students from City Studio Vancouver in collaboration with UBC’s School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture and local neighbors came together—shovels in hand—to break ground. What began as a collaborative space has since blossomed into a vibrant, inclusive garden led by community members, where education, sustainability, and shared harvests continue to thrive.
